Demystifying Food, an Online Boot Camp
In this boot camp, there will be no nasty drill sergeants, no grueling workouts and you won't be woken at sunrise with to the sound of reveille, but you will immerse yourself in a life-changing experience. Demystifying Food is designed to deliver in the form of workshops, essential information in the about how to eat for well for your health, wellness and longevity.
Workshops are several weeks long and combine a variety of subjects. Each workshop is broken down into weekly modules and packaged much like a meal is planned; portion-controlled, well-balanced, interesting, satisfying and if done right, will leave you wanting more. When you enroll, you'll receive your lesson plan and materials via email. We'll tell you what's on tap for the week in terms of subject matter, any upcoming optional activities or in-person classes and then give you all you need to know about that week's subject.

Workshop 1 - The Basics of Whole Foods Eating Session runs: January 23 - February 17
- Week 1; "Move Over, Brown Rice". Whole grains are not just about brown rice and oatmeal. We'll explore the many health-supportive whole grains out there, many of which are gluten-free, and learn about the nutritional aspects, basics on how to cook grains and creative, delicious recipes so you can have a variety of grains in your arsenal to choose from when making meals. - Week 2; "Mother Knew Best, Eat Your Vegetables". Sounds simple right? You'd be surprised at how many people have a limited number of vegetables they are comfortable identifying, cooking and eating. Here, we'll learn about the benefits of some familiar vegetables and some that are not so familiar, like seaweed. Again, delicious recipes will be included for you to try. - Week 3; "Superfoods for Everyday Eating". You hear a lot about "superfoods", but do you really know what they are, why they are important and how you can easily incorporate them into your regular diet? You will after this week's lesson! - Week 4; "Plants Have Protein, Too!" In this week's lesson, we'll learn about our REAL protein needs and how to get the most bio-available plant-based proteins into our diet with less meat and animal-based products. There are so many creative and delicious ways to cover your nutritional needs while improving your health and avoiding or reducing the harmful effects of animal protein on your body. - Week 5; "Juice it Up!" Seems like everyone is doing it, young people, old folks, kids, maybe even your next-door-neighbor. "Juicing" is a not a fad, it's here to stay. Learn about this simple, healthy way to pump your body full of essential vitamins, minerals and other good stuff. We'll explore the healing potential of juicing and how to create juices to cure or help what ails you.
Optional activities include; - In-person class on Sea Vegetables on January 26, from 6-8pm at GreenGourmetToGo. As a participant in the workshop, you'll receive a 25% discount (regular price for the class is $55). - In-person class on Juicing on January 9, from 6-7:30pm at GreenGourmetToGo, again, as a participant in the workshop, you receive a 25% discount (regular price for the class is $50) - GreenGourmetToGo Gatherings (in February, date TBD), an opportunity to meet others, swap stories and share experiences while enjoying good food. Participants are encouraged to try out a recipe from the workshop and bring samples to share.
